‘Painting abstract is my journey of self-exploration into a world where freedom of expression has no boundaries. My guide is the pursuit of peace, happiness, curiosity, discovery and surprise which I aim to find in both raw chaos and aesthetic balance. Color is a limitless land where anything is possible and where beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The hours in front of my canvases are pure immersion when time ceases to exist and my mind and emotions are fully engaged. It is a kind of freedom I have not allowed myself in previous endeavors. The process challenges me to keep pushing until my eyes are saturated and my soul is at peace. It is my hope that my art inspires that same sense of peace within you.

My inspiration comes from my travels and the places I have lived: light green forests, wild flower fields and meadows during the Danish summers, turquoise waters and rock formations on the Mediterranean islands, Northern Greenland, Southern California, as well as lush tropical Florida. I have always gravitated towards warm climates with bright colorful flora. I enjoy painting in quiet solitude and allow myself to move through moods and emotions, constantly challenging the existence of the painting and then pushing deeper. I see beauty everywhere and love color! Painting is my natural sanctuary where emotions and creativity can passionately dance!

My first experience creating two dimensional art for display was an assignment in 2nd grade in Denmark when I drew and colored a composition of four light green apples which hung on the wall of our classroom among my classmates’ works. I remember feeling proud and satisfied with my work. During that time I also knitted clothes for my dolls and later, I created bracelets of woven beads for my class mates in the Swedish School in Spain. I have enjoyed baking and cooking since I was in my teens and these days that means plant-based including nut cheeses and dairy free chocolates. Creating is my happy place!'
